Personal Statement
Personal Statements (PS) are probably the most important part of the Dental School Application. Remember we are not talking about the GPA or DAT scores here but the application itself. Most applicants make the very costly mistake of explaining various items from their CV, while writing their PSs. Overlooking the fact that the title says “Personal”. An excellent PS, thus follows, is the one that shares personal and emotional stories about your life where you have learned something, have made an impact on others, or others have influenced you. So, the question is not what you have done, but what you have learned from what you have done and how you can use it in the future to learn and grow and help others to do so as well. Here at Didaktix Education, every year we review many PSs and unfortunately, more often than not, we see PSs that are dry, boring and cliché, to say the least. Because they are filled with mundane statements about the activities of the applicants without really making those activities a “Personal” story. So, make your essay for dental school a “Personal” one that the reader has never read before, because it is about you and you are unique. All of us are.
